OPINIONS FOR HEALTH_____________________________________________________________________________________________________ The idea behind this page is that in all our lives today we have much distress entering, and by voicing opinions and letting them out, we could defend ourselves against the distress, and prevent the stress! A few hundred people visit us every day, so some will read your thoughts! Use the box on the CONTACT page to let off your steam. The page will be moderated of course! ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ 17.08.10 Viziter As a resident of a nation whose government does not permit free public speech, I watch all you people living and complaining in free societies and I weep! You can say what you want to, even if it is seditious or plain stupid. I cannot. I risk a visit from the secret police and an immediate disappearance - for the rest of time. Fear is the way they govern. But it will change. Sometime. Maybe for the better maybe not.
___________________________________________________________________________________ _14.08.2010 Gallerygirl Hey Gandolfo! I'm a public servant and we don't all think like that! Some of us try to do it right and make a difference!! I'll bet you don't do much for the world do you? 13.8.2010 10:42 "Carrotjuice" - Watched Dicks Smith last night. Just thought that this is all getting like it should be with politicians asking us what we wanted and thinking about longer that their next term. Hes got the right idea. _GANDOLFO 10 AUGUST 2010 I am what they call a floating voter. I'm undecided. This time I might even spoil my paper voting. Last night I heard our Prime Minister slagging the Abbott about his ability to "run the economy". What a load of garbage!! Anyone would think that pollies actually can influence our political future! Over and over politicians have shown that they are incapable of anything except short term troughing, and leave it all to their public servants, whose first repsonsibility is to themselves. We need a system that will plan, long-term, and not just for the next four or five years. __________________________________________________________________________________________________
posted by "A. Democrat" 28.07.2010 There was a big thing in the paper today about the upcoming election we are having here in Australia. Fifteen correspondents put their opinions about what we need to be doing in terms of political decisions. Instead of thinking about longer periods between elections, immigration, population control, and slanging pollies, why not accept that our present system of government is shot to peices, and should be given a decent burial. Greed, self-interest, corruption, inefficiency, ignorance stupidity and carelessness have put huge holes in the system. Let us opt instead for DEMOCRACY! Democracy as a system of government has a great deal to offer, but there are no democratic legislatures anywhere in the world. Democracy was invented a long time ago in ancient Greece, and involved public debate among orators or speakers, who stated the argument for and against bits of legislation. When they had done, the listeners, [the electorate], standing in the public square, voted in person, for an outcome. And that outcome was what took place. Today, there is a large part of the population of any nation who are disenfranchised. In other words have no voice. It's well known that in so-called democracies, where representatives more or less please themselves what they do, a large percentage of the population did not want the government they have! So these poor people have to stand and watch while politicians strut their stuff and protect their own interests. Well, now it has all changed. Till this electronic age we had to make do with that old creaky system. Now we have the power to introduce true democracy. We can listen to the orators again, and then each of us who are interested enough to listen have the facility to vote and decide. DEMOCRATICALLY. This system is available for TV programmes, why not for something really important? The thought of this development sends a chill wind through the corridors, pension funds and perks of power. Politicians become unnecessary. Someone suggested in this election run-up that a citizens council should be established to talk about climate change. The suggestion was immediately howled down. Not surprising really. ________________________________________________________________________________________________ Here's one from today 300710 Scientist:30 Jul 2010 12:31:39pm Dumbed-down curricula for factual-based subjects have a lot to answer for, not just in science and maths, but also the Gillard history and geography proposals that entirely omit major concepts unloved by the Left, meanwhile cluttering the base requirements with coercive opinions that cannot be critically assessed by students who have been denied the suppressed facts. What chance do teachers have when the educational authorities compel so much timewasting material? __________________________________________________________________________________________________
